Temple Visitors Center - Rexburg, ID

While at BYU-Idaho, I took a course in commercial architectural design. That semester, we were divided into teams of 3-4 and tasked with designing a hypothetical visitors center across the street from the Rexburg, Idaho LDS Temple. My team wanted to create a building that would complement the Temple, the adjacent BYU-Idaho campus, and its famous Ricks Gardens. We took inspiration from the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City with its rooftop garden and simple modern design. We intended the visitors center to be the meeting point between the Ricks Gardens and the Temple grounds. We wanted the building to have a low profile that would blend in with the hill and not distract from the Temple, leading us to incorporate elements from both the University campus and the Temple.

Digital Walkthrough Video

In addition to the model and still images, we were required to create a digital walkthrough video using Lumion. The following is a video set to an instrumental rendition of “I Love to See the Temple” by Janice Kapp Perry (1939)
