Doric Entry Gate at Ashton Gardens

As part of UVU’s Architecture program, each student must take the Classical Architecture Workshop. One of the assigned projects is to design a hypothetical entry gate at the Ashton Gardens in Lehi, Utah, using the principles and proportions of the Doric Order. The design solution I created was modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. I wanted to make a coffered dome, illuminated by a lone oculus at the top. The design features four small arched entries aligned with the cardinal directions. With light pouring in from the five small openings, it would be a secluded hideaway in the expansive garden.
